Nvidia's DLSS 4: 8X Performance Boost with Multi-Frame Generation
Nvidia has unveiled DLSS 4 at CES 2025, a significant leap in AI-powered upscaling technology, exclusively for the new GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs. This revolutionary update introduces Multi-Frame Generation (MFG), capable of generating up to three additional frames per rendered frame, resulting in an impressive 8X performance increase. This allows for stunning 4K gaming at 240 FPS with full ray tracing enabled.
DLSS 4 builds upon previous iterations by incorporating transformer-based AI models for the first time in real-time graphics rendering. This enhances image quality, improves temporal stability, and minimizes visual artifacts. The technology also boasts a 40% acceleration in frame generation and a 30% reduction in VRAM usage compared to previous generations, thanks to optimized AI models and hardware improvements like Flip Metering and upgraded Tensor Cores.
Backward compatibility is a key feature. At launch, 75 games will support MFG, and over 50 titles will leverage the new transformer-based models. Major titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 will have native support. Nvidia's application even includes an override function to enable MFG and other enhancements for older DLSS integrations.

Games like Warhammer 40,000: Darktide already showcase the benefits of these improvements with increased frame rates and decreased memory usage.
