Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Issue Affecting Several Heroes
Players of Marvel Rivals experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings (particularly 30 FPS) can expect a resolution. The developers have acknowledged a bug impacting damage calculations for certain heroes, including Dr. Strange and Wolverine, when the game runs at lower frame rates.
This issue, affecting heroes like Magik, Star-Lord, and Venom as well, manifests as diminished damage from some or all attacks at 30 FPS compared to higher frame rates (60 or 120 FPS). The problem, confirmed by a community manager on the official Discord server, stems from the game's client-side prediction mechanism. This mechanism, designed to mitigate lag, appears to be the root cause of the discrepancy in damage calculation at lower FPS.
While a precise fix date isn't available, the developers are actively working on a solution. The upcoming Season 1 launch, scheduled for January 11th, is expected to include a fix or significant improvement. The community manager specifically mentioned Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities as examples of moves significantly affected by this bug, particularly noticeable against stationary targets. If the Season 1 update doesn't fully resolve the issue, a subsequent patch will address any remaining problems.
Despite early concerns about hero balance, Marvel Rivals, released in early December 2025, enjoys an 80% player approval rating on Steam based on over 132,000 reviews, highlighting its overall positive reception within the hero shooter genre. The ongoing efforts to address this FPS-related bug further demonstrate the developers' commitment to providing a balanced and enjoyable gameplay experience.
