The Monster Hunter Wilds team recently shared a pre-release community update, covering console specifications, weapon adjustments, and more. This post summarizes key details about system requirements and other improvements.
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with a PS5 Pro patch offering enhanced visuals. A December 19th livestream featured director Yuya Tokuda and other team members discussing post-OBT improvements. Console performance targets were revealed:
- PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X: Two modes – "Prioritize Graphics" (4K/30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p/60fps). A rendering bug in the framerate mode has been fixed.
- Xbox Series S: Native 1080p/30fps.
- PlayStation 5 Pro: Enhanced graphics; details pending closer to launch.
Lowered Minimum PC Specs Planned
While PC specs were previously announced, the developers confirmed efforts to reduce minimum requirements for broader accessibility. Specific details will be released closer to launch. Capcom is also considering a PC benchmark tool.
Potential Second Open Beta Test
A second open beta test is under consideration, primarily to give players who missed the first one a chance to experience the game. However, this potential beta won't include the improvements detailed in the livestream; those will be present only in the full release.
The livestream also covered adjustments to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire mitigation, and weapon tweaks (with special focus on the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, and Lance).
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
