Microsoft's AI Copilot is expanding its reach, preparing to integrate with the Xbox experience. This means gaming advice, progress tracking, and more are on the horizon. Rolling out soon for Xbox Insiders via the mobile app, Copilot will initially offer several features. You can request game installations (already possible with a single app button), check your play history, achievements, and library, or even get game recommendations. Direct communication with Copilot is also enabled within the Xbox app during gameplay, mirroring its Windows functionality.

A key feature is Copilot's role as a gaming assistant. Similar to its PC counterpart, you can ask questions about gameplay, such as boss strategies or puzzle solutions. Copilot will leverage Bing to search various online resources, including guides, websites, wikis, and forums. This functionality will soon be available on the Xbox app.
Microsoft emphasizes accuracy, stating they're collaborating with game studios to ensure Copilot's information aligns with their vision and always directs users to the original source.
Microsoft's ambitions extend beyond the initial features. Future possibilities include walkthrough assistance, item location reminders, competitive game strategy suggestions, and post-engagement analysis. While these are currently conceptual, they highlight Microsoft's commitment to deep Copilot integration within Xbox gameplay. This integration will eventually encompass both first-party and third-party studios.

Regarding data privacy, Xbox Insiders will have control during the preview, deciding how to interact with Copilot, manage conversation history access, and determine its actions. Microsoft promises transparency about data collection and usage, emphasizing player choice. However, the possibility of mandatory Copilot use in the future remains open.
Beyond player-centric applications, Microsoft will detail developer-focused plans at the Game Developers Conference next week.
