inZOI Director Teases a Karma System
Deceased Zois Transform into Ghosts, Depending on Their Karma Points
On February 7, 2025, inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim shared exciting news via a Discord post about the upcoming Karma system. This system will allow deceased Zois to transform into ghosts, contingent upon their accumulated Karma points.
Despite inZOI's commitment to realism, Kim is eager to introduce a paranormal twist with the Karma system and ghostly Zois. He explained, "If a Zoi dies with sufficient karma points, they transition to the afterlife. However, those falling short must linger as ghosts until they can restore enough karma points." The specifics on how to restore these points remain under wraps.
Kim stressed the importance of balancing this new feature, stating, "We want to keep the playability of ghosts fairly limited to avoid overshadowing the main gameplay, yet we aim to make the experience engaging when it occurs." In the Early Access version, interactions with ghost Zois will be limited to special conversations "at set times under certain conditions."
"While our primary focus is on refining the realistic elements of inZOI, I'm excited to explore more fantasy-driven aspects in the future," Kim added. "Introducing occasional elements beyond our ultra-realistic setting could add a fun layer to our simulation of life's vast and complex concept!"
inZOI Karma Interaction Briefly Revealed
Back in August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with various content creators to showcase the game. Among them, MadMorph briefly highlighted inZOI’s Karma system in his video.
Around the fifteen-minute mark, MadMorph demonstrated a feature called Karma Interactions, which offers a range of actions that can either increase or decrease Karma points. One amusing example shown was a character secretly farting on another Zoi's face, eliciting a reaction from the NPC. Positive actions like "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend’s post" were also available but not demonstrated in the video.
Although Kim confirmed that the Early Access version, set to release on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus solely on gameplay "while the Zois are still alive," the Karma Interactions will play a more significant role in future updates. Fans eager to experience inZOI need only wait less than 6 weeks to dive into this immersive world.
