World of Warcraft's highly anticipated housing system is slated for a 2025 release, with Blizzard recently unveiling initial details. The developers assure players that homes will be accessible to everyone, regardless of subscription status, and will not involve complicated acquisition processes, exorbitant costs, or lotteries. This feature is set to fully launch with the Midnight expansion.
Initially, players will select a plot in one of two designated zones: Alliance players will choose from an Elwynn Forest location incorporating elements of Westfall and Duskwood, while Horde players will have a Durotar option featuring aspects of Azshara and the Durotar coastline.
Each zone will be segmented into districts, each housing approximately 50 homes. Players can opt for open-area plots or establish private communities with friends and guild members. Extensive customization options will be available, with the majority obtainable in-game and a selection offered through the in-game shop.
Blizzard highlights three core principles guiding the housing system's design: extensive customization, robust social interaction, and enduring longevity. Further details are promised in the future, and player feedback is currently being solicited.
