While Avowed's Living Lands feel expansive, the main quest is surprisingly brief. This guide details what awaits after completing Obsidian's latest RPG.
New Game Plus?
Many RPG players relish replaying the main quest on higher difficulties with acquired skills and gear. Unfortunately, Avowed currently lacks a New Game Plus mode at launch. However, Obsidian may add this feature via future updates or DLC based on player feedback.
Despite this, replayability exists. Avowed's numerous choices impact story and gameplay, making a fresh playthrough worthwhile to explore different endings and character builds.
Endgame Content?
Avowed features four main regions, a secret final area, and a revisited major city (details withheld to avoid spoilers). Legendary-quality weapons and gear are crucial for navigating these challenging final areas. However, progress doesn't carry over to previous regions, and no new areas unlock post-game, limiting the endgame experience.
Post-Game Activities:
Avowed's post-game is somewhat limited by the absence of New Game Plus and endgame content. Completion triggers several minutes of cutscenes illustrating the consequences of player choices. Afterwards, you're returned to the main menu.
From the main menu, you can start a new game or reload a previous save. Autosaves exist before the point of no return and the final encounter, enabling replaying these sections with altered choices to experience different story outcomes.
Reloading to a pre-point-of-no-return save allows revisiting earlier regions. Enemies won't scale to your level, making it satisfying to revisit areas like Dawnshore with high-level gear, cleaning up missed side quests and collectibles.
In summary, that's what awaits after conquering Avowed.
Avowed is available now on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass.
