Condal emphasized the privilege of working on the series, both as a writer and a fan of science fiction and fantasy.
Addressing the adaptation process, Condal acknowledged the challenges of translating Fire & Blood, the source material for House of the Dragon, to the screen. He explained that the historical narrative requires significant creative interpretation and invention. Despite his efforts to involve Martin in the adaptation process, Condal noted that their collaboration became strained as practical production issues arose.
Condal elaborated on the dual role he must fulfill as both a creative writer and a practical producer, emphasizing the necessity of moving forward with the project for the sake of the crew, cast, and HBO.
