Stardew Valley's Crystalarium: A Gem-Growing Guide
Stardew Valley offers more than farming; players strive for profit, and gemstones are valuable beyond their beauty, serving crafting and gifting purposes. While mining for rare gems is time-consuming, the Crystalarium provides a solution. This incredible device replicates gems and minerals, significantly boosting profits. This guide covers its acquisition and use, updated for Stardew Valley 1.6.
Obtaining a Crystalarium
Unlocking the Crystalarium recipe requires reaching Mining Level 9. Crafting demands:
- 99 Stone: Easily obtained by breaking rocks on your farm or in the Mines.
- 5 Gold Bars: Smelt Gold Ore (found at mine levels 80 and below) using a Furnace and Coal.
- 2 Iridium Bars: Mine Iridium in Skull Cavern or obtain it daily from the Statue of Perfection (smelt as above).
- 1 Battery Pack: Collect these after a lightning rod is struck during a thunderstorm.
Alternative Acquisition Methods:
- Community Center Bundle: Complete the 25,000g bundle in the Vault to receive a Crystalarium.
- Museum Donation: Donate at least 50 minerals (gems or geodes) to the Museum for a Crystalarium gift from Gunther.
Using the Crystalarium
Place your Crystalarium anywhere – indoors or outdoors. The Quarry is a popular choice for large-scale gem production. It replicates any mineral or gemstone (except Prismatic Shards).
Growth times vary: Quartz is fastest but less profitable; Diamonds are slowest (5 days) but yield the highest return.
To relocate a Crystalarium, hit it with an axe or pickaxe. A gem being replicated will drop. To change the gem type, simply interact with the machine while holding the desired gem; the old gem will be ejected.
Maximize your profits and strengthen relationships by using the Crystalarium to cultivate valuable gemstones. Their high value makes them excellent gifts for Pelican Town's residents.
