The eagerly awaited Days Gone Remastered is drawing near, and Sony's Bend Studio has just unveiled a host of accessibility features that will be included in the updated version of the game. Among these, a standout feature is the ability to adjust the Game Speed, allowing players to slow down the action when facing intense moments.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, the Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, provided an in-depth look at the accessibility options coming to Days Gone Remastered. One of the key highlights is the Game Speed adjustment, which lets players scale the gameplay speed from 100% down to as low as 25%. According to McAllister, this feature is designed to assist players who may feel overwhelmed during high-pressure scenarios, such as battling hordes of Freakers. With the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, this adjustment aims to make the unique combat experience more accessible.
Beyond Game Speed, Days Gone Remastered will also introduce a variety of other accessibility enhancements. These include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE option, which was previously limited to Easy difficulty, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
Bend Studio has also announced that most of these new accessibility features will be rolled out to the PC version of Days Gone. However, certain features like feedback and control customization will require a compatible controller to function fully.
Days Gone Remastered was officially announced in February, promising not only these accessibility improvements but also an enhanced photo mode, permadeath and speedrun options. This remaster of the 2019 post-apocalyptic zombie action-adventure game, centered around a biker navigating a world overrun by Freakers, is set to launch on April 25, 2025. Players who already own the PS4 version of Days Gone can upgrade to the PS5 remastered edition for just $10.
