Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest, near the Resonance Beacon. Players can climb or use the Flight function to reach it.
The Lifer Board Game
The Lifer is positioned beside a board game with six pieces. Players (black pieces) aim to create a three-piece line before the Lifer (white pieces). Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. Exiting preserves piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Winning before buff removal is ill-advised; the Lifer will immediately attack.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, while three are permanent. Buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
- Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without attack.
- Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase; additional 25% DMG increase every 20 seconds.
- Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG instance (stacks to 4); stacks reset after 6 seconds without DMG.
- Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all elemental damage types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc); 25% Max HP increase.
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.
Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance
Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open gates in each line's direction. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (white glow). Challenges include defeating Tacet Discords or breaking Friable Rocks in some rooms.
Place each Stake of Imbalance in the corresponding module to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow once a buff is removed.
Defeating the Lifer
After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. The battle is significantly easier. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The Lifer, without its buffs, poses minimal threat.
First victory rewards a Premium Supply Chest. Second victory adds another Premium Supply Chest and three Basic Supply Chests. Third victory grants an Advanced Supply Chest and three Standard Supply Chests. Buffs can be re-enabled for a harder challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.
For the board game, focus on preventing the Lifer from creating lines; it will eventually make a mistake.
