Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 faces another postponement, pushing its launch to October 2025.
The slight delay was announced in a recent developer update video from publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, following years of scheduling adjustments. This moves the anticipated sequel several months past its originally planned first-half 2025 window, though the team confirms core development is complete.
"The game is currently in its final stages," stated Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Executive Producer Marco Behrmann. "Our focus now is on polishing - addressing bugs, improving stability, and optimizing performance to deliver the best possible experience at launch."
While this latest delay continues the game's troubled history, the update contained some encouraging news. The Chinese Room revealed expanded content, deeper narrative elements, and enhanced character development since their last major showcase. Notably, protagonist Fabien will play a more significant role in the final storyline.
The development team also explained they'll be reducing communication frequency moving forward, despite previously keeping fans engaged through regular dev diaries. This announcement came via the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Twitter account.
The game's development journey has been particularly tumultuous since its initial 2019 announcement by original developer Hardsuit Labs, targeting a Q1 2020 release. Multiple postponements followed, including delays to late 2020, then 2021, accompanied by staffing changes at Hardsuit Labs.
The project underwent its most dramatic shift in 2023 when development transitioned to The Chinese Room (creators of Still Wakes the Deep), with a renewed focus on delivering the game in 2024. After this latest adjustment, fans can now anticipate experiencing the long-awaited sequel this October.
Considering the sequel to the beloved 2004 RPG's extended development cycle, success remains uncertain. However, the current team expresses confidence in their vision. Paradox has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 prove successful, another studio may take the reins for a potential Bloodlines 3.
