Hazelight's beloved cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, has now surpassed nearly four million copies sold, a milestone proudly announced by publisher EA in their latest financial report. The game's success was highlighted as a key factor in EA's robust performance at the close of the 2025 financial year, with the publisher describing Split Fiction as a "hugely successful launch."
"4 MILLION SOLD!!!!" Hazelight celebrated on social media, expressing their gratitude and excitement. "So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made…"
Split Fiction immerses players in the diverse worlds crafted by two fiction writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where only one player needs to own the game. Launched in March, it quickly became another triumph for Hazelight and acclaimed designer Josef Fares, achieving over two million sales within its first week. The game is also set to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, as Hazelight progresses on its next project.
In addition to its gaming success, Split Fiction is set to expand into the film industry, with Story Kitchen, the studio behind the Sonic films, working on a movie adaptation. They are currently assembling a team of writers, a director, and a cast that will feature Sydney Sweeney.
In our IGN Split Fiction review, we praised the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," noting that it offers "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced. This keeps it fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
