Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boasts a roster of unforgettable characters, but none may capture hearts quite like Esquie, the game's endearing giant companion who feels like a mascot. Amidst growing popularity, Sandfall Interactive has issued a warning about the proliferation of fake merchandise, particularly Esquie plushies. The studio has noticed several "suspicious" websites emerging, selling these unauthorized plush toys.
"To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed," Sandfall Interactive stated in a post on X/Twitter from the official Expedition 33 account. "Many of them are using AI-generated artwork to advertise, and we strongly recommend against purchasing from these sources. They could be scams."
However, fans have a reason to celebrate as well. Sandfall Interactive is actively working on an official Esquie plushie and aims to bring it to market as quickly as possible. "In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" the studio advised.
For those familiar with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the appeal of an Esquie plushie is clear. Introduced in Act 1, Esquie serves as both a helpful companion and a mode of overworld travel, reminiscent of Baymax from Big Hero 6. His charm and utility make him a fan favorite, fueling the demand for official merchandise.
A quick search online reveals not only unofficial sites selling Esquie plushies but also community discussions about these unauthorized sellers. Fans eager for the genuine article from Sandfall and Kepler will need to exercise patience. There's no word yet on whether the official plushie will feature the playful touch of being filled with wine, a nod to Esquie's in-game personality.
In other news, Sandfall Interactive recently rolled out patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which included balance adjustments to Maelle's Stendhal ability. Additionally, French President Emmanuel Macron commended the game, highlighting its developers as a "shining example of French audacity and creativity."
