Firaxis Games Postpones Civilization 7's First In-Game Event
Development Team Prioritizes Player Experience Refinements

Firaxis Games has announced a delay for Civilization 7's first planned in-game event to dedicate resources to essential quality-of-life updates. In a February 28, 2025 development update, the studio outlined their roadmap, revealing this strategic shift in priorities.
Update 1.1.0 arrives March 4, 2025 for PC and consoles (with separate timing for Nintendo Switch). While originally slated to introduce the "Natural Wonder Battle" event, the team explained: "After careful consideration, we're postponing in-game events to focus first on implementing crucial quality-of-life improvements players have requested. We'll announce event details when we're ready to deliver the best possible experience."
Since its early access launch, Civ 7 has received mixed feedback regarding certain features, particularly its user interface. Firaxis acknowledged this, stating: "We're actively reviewing all UI feedback and committed to making continuous improvements to Civilization 7. We value our players' input as we refine the experience."
Update 1.1.0 Addresses Key Player Concerns

The March update focuses heavily on community-requested changes. While complete patch notes will accompany the release, Firaxis revealed several highlights:
Players can discover the new Bermuda Triangle natural wonder (free for all users). The update includes significant UI refinements responding to player feedback. Modern Age mechanics receive adjustments, particularly regarding Cultural Legacy Path balancing and AI behavior for Cultural Victories.
Additionally, the first installment of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection launches simultaneously. "Players owning premium editions or this collection will automatically receive the content with Update 1.1.0," the studio confirmed.
Major March 25 Update Planned

Firaxis outlined ongoing development plans beyond the March 4 update, with another significant patch targeting March 25, 2025 (subject to change). UI enhancements remain a primary focus, described as "the beginning of a multi-month initiative to completely refine the interface."
Future updates will introduce fan-requested features including post-Modern Age "one more turn" functionality, auto-explore commands, expanded map sizes (excluding Switch), multiplayer improvements, and other quality-of-life additions.
The studio noted: "We're evaluating implementation timelines for these improvements. Some may arrive as early as April, while others require more extensive development. As always, plans may evolve—we'll share concrete details as features near completion. Thank you for your patience as we work to enhance Civilization 7."
