For years, Bloodborne fans have passionately requested a remastered version of FromSoftware's acclaimed title. Recent Instagram activity has only fueled this fervent speculation.
Instagram Posts Ignite Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Classic Deserves a Modern Update
Bloodborne, a critically lauded RPG released in 2015, remains a cherished favorite among gamers. Many players express a strong desire to revisit the gothic world of Yharnam on current-generation consoles. While no official announcement has been made, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram pages featuring the game have significantly heightened anticipation.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One image depicted Djura, a memorable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The other two showcased the player character exploring Yharnam's heart and the eerie Charnel Lane graveyards.
Although these posts might simply be a nostalgic look back, dedicated Bloodborne players on platforms like Twitter (X) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for clues hinting at a long-awaited remaster. The timing, particularly with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has left many feeling teased.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, prompting numerous comments expressing a yearning for Yharnam's return, with some humorously suggesting a PC or modern console release as the most iconic location.
The Hunt for Bloodborne on Modern Consoles Continues – Nearly a Decade Later
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has cultivated a fiercely loyal following, earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition as one of gaming's greatest achievements. Despite its success, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans often cite the 2020 remake of Demon's Souls (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, this hope is tempered by concerns about the potential timeframe. The over-a-decade wait for the Demon's Souls remake has sparked fears of a similar delay for Bloodborne, especially as its tenth anniversary approaches.
In a February interview with Eurogamer, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki fueled the speculation. While avoiding a definitive confirmation, he acknowledged the advantages of remastering the game for modern hardware, highlighting increased accessibility for a wider audience.
Despite Miyazaki's encouraging comments, the final decision rests not with FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, which FromSoftware fully publishes, Bloodborne's publishing rights are held by Sony. Miyazaki has previously stated in interviews with IGN that he is unable to comment on Bloodborne's future due to FromSoftware not owning the IP.
Bloodborne's passionate fanbase continues to eagerly await a remaster. Despite the game's critical and commercial success, its availability remains limited to the PlayStation 4. Whether the current speculation translates into reality remains to be seen.
