Below, we've outlined essential tips and tricks we wish we knew when we first started playing *Build Defense*. Implementing these strategies can significantly enhance your enjoyment and success in the game.

The object of the game is to survive…

When you're thrown into your world and onto your plot of land, you might think the goal is to keep your plot secure. That's not quite right! **The true objective is to survive, or simply put, not to die.** The game will hurl various dangers at you, and your task is to endure them. Ideally, you'll do this at your plot by constructing a defensive structure, but you can also evade threats by running around the world until the danger passes (we've tried this, and it works wonders). **Each survival earns you a "Win" and some in-game currency.** **Accumulating Wins drives your progression in the game.** So, keep an eye on screen messages and focus on staying alive. With that in mind…

… dying is completely normal

**Don't fret if you die.** It's a common occurrence and has minimal repercussions. You'll respawn immediately, lose your items, and fail the current enemy wave, but these setbacks are manageable.

You can repurchase your weapons and items; monsters and disasters **can't destroy your structures**, and a new attack wave arrives every two minutes, giving you another shot. In essence, **all you lose is a few minutes of your time**, which isn't too bad.

Build high, not low

Initially, we thought encircling our plot with walls would suffice to keep monsters at bay, but that proved ineffective. The need for an entry and exit point became a vulnerability that monsters exploited.

A more effective strategy is to **build a towering set of stairs and a platform at the summit**. When night falls, climb up and wait it out. Monsters attempting to ascend will likely fall, and those who reach the top should be met with **a barrage of turrets**. This setup is nearly foolproof and will help you survive most nights.

Don’t just build, explore!

There's much more to do on the island than just managing your plot. You can visit neighbors (other players), sell ores, and even **complete quests**. Most quests require a certain number of Wins to unlock, but some, like the **Gingerbread’s House quest**, are available from the start. Completing these quests is beneficial as they can unlock a variety of new building parts.

The “Shop” isn’t just for premium items

As you advance in the game, don't forget to visit the Shop. **Most items there can be purchased with in-game currency.** You'll need to accumulate Wins first, so spend some time playing before exploring the Shop. Also, remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and like, favorite, and follow the game to receive a free gift.

When you’re ready, move to the next area

Once you've collected enough Wins (190), you can advance to the next area and start the process anew. You'll encounter new disasters, quests, and building opportunities.
