Alan Wake 2 has surpassed an impressive milestone by selling over 2 million copies globally. This marks a significant increase from the 1.3 million units sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period during which Remedy celebrated the game as its fastest-selling title to date.
In their most recent financial report to investors, Remedy highlighted that this sales achievement, along with the launch of The Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition, has enabled the game to start generating royalties after covering its development and marketing expenses.
Looking forward, Remedy is gearing up for exciting developments. The studio announced that Control 2, developed in collaboration with Annapurna, is nearing the end of its production readiness phase and is set to enter full production by the end of February 2025. Similarly, the Max Payne 1&2 Remake is making solid strides in full production.
Meanwhile, FBC: Firebreak, Remedy's multiplayer spin-off from the Control universe, is also in full production following a successful closed technical test in December. This test focused on matchmaking and back-end services and involved external players. Although no specific release date has been set, FBC: Firebreak is slated for a self-published launch by Remedy later in 2025.
CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's strategic direction, stating, "We are in a great place to begin our strategy period and have set targets we are confident in reaching."
In IGN's review of Alan Wake 2, the game received a stellar 9/10 score. The review praised it as a "superb survival horror sequel that makes the cult classic original seem like little more than a rough first draft by comparison."
