Following a strong showing at the Xbox Developer Direct to kick off 2025, Microsoft and its impressive roster of first-party studios are looking very promising. But which Xbox game series gets *you* most excited? Which provided the most enjoyment during the Xbox 360 era? Or, if you're new to Xbox, which series are you most anticipating experiencing on platforms like PlayStation, as Microsoft continues its apparent push to broaden its game library's reach?
With Microsoft's acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the selection of legendary game series is vast. This tier list includes any series associated with Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, provided it boasts more than one entry – apologies to MachineGames and Indiana Jones! A sequel would certainly change that. Please note, this isn't an exhaustive list of *every* Xbox game series, but we've aimed to cover the most relevant and historically impactful titles.
For me, Doom easily earns an S-tier ranking. The latest entries are among my favorite first-person shooters, and Doom: The Dark Ages suggests id Software is maintaining its stellar form. Forza Horizon also secures an S-tier spot; alongside Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, they represent some of the best racing games I've ever played. Placing Halo in A-tier might raise some eyebrows. While Halo 2 and 3 boast phenomenal campaigns, I can't overlook recent inconsistencies to justify a higher ranking. Personally, I'm more of a Fallout fan than an Elder Scrolls enthusiast. Power armor over dragons, any day!
