Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Risk and Reward
Phasmophobia's Cursed Possessions offer shortcuts to identifying ghosts, but with significant risk. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, offering a potentially high reward for evidence gathering, but demanding careful consideration of the inherent dangers. This guide explains how to obtain and effectively utilize the Voodoo Doll.
Using the Voodoo Doll
The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. By inserting pins one by one, you can trigger actions such as EMF5 readings or UV fingerprints, particularly useful with elusive or inactive ghosts.
Ten pins are available, each insertion costing 5% sanity. Inserting all pins depletes 50% sanity, significantly increasing the risk of a ghost hunt.
The critical risk lies in the heart pin. A random pin is selected with each insertion; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) ghost hunt near your location.
Despite the risks, the potential evidence gathered can outweigh the dangers, especially with proper preparation and teamwork.
Understanding Cursed Possessions
Cursed Possessions are unique items spawning randomly across Phasmophobia maps, influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode. Unlike standard equipment, they offer ghost manipulation at a higher risk to player sanity.
The risk-reward ratio varies between objects. There's no penalty for ignoring them, and only one spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings). Seven Cursed Possessions exist:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
