Get ready, Pokémon GO trainers! January's first week is almost over, and the next Spotlight Hour event is just around the corner – this Tuesday! With numerous events already underway, now's the time to stock up on Poké Balls and Berries.
Pokémon GO consistently delivers exciting monthly events, including Max Mondays, Community Days, and the ever-popular weekly Spotlight Hours, each featuring a specific Pokémon with a chance to snag a Shiny version. Here's the lowdown on this week's event:
Voltorb & Hisuian Voltorb Spotlight Hour
This Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, from 6 PM to 7 PM (local time), Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb take center stage! Prepare for a double dose of catching and Shiny hunting. Both Pokémon offer significant combat advantages, providing valuable extra damage output.
Given the two Pokémon featured, maximize your chances by stocking up on Poké Balls, Berries, and Incense. You'll be catching twice the usual amount, so ample storage space is crucial. These items boost your odds of catching Shinies and powering up your Pokémon.
Voltorb (#100 in the Pokédex), a Kanto region Pokémon, is tradeable and transferable to Pokémon HOME. Catching it rewards you with 3 Candies and 100 Stardust. It evolves into Electrode using 50 Candies. With a max CP of 1141, 109 Attack, and 111 Defense, it packs a punch.
As an Electric-type, Voltorb takes increased damage from Ground-type moves (160% damage) and reduced damage from Electric, Flying, and Steel types (63% damage). The optimal moveset is Spark (Electric) and Discharge (Electric), delivering 5.81 DPS and 40.62 TDO. Rainy weather boosts its attack power. A blue Shiny Voltorb awaits discovery.
Hisuian Voltorb, also #100 in the Pokédex, shares Voltorb's family and stats (1141 CP, 111 Defense, 109 Attack), transferability, and Candy/Stardust rewards. It evolves into Hisuian Electrode with 50 Candies. While also Electric-type, its strengths and weaknesses differ slightly.
Hisuian Voltorb receives 160% damage from Bug, Fire, Ice, and Poison types, and reduced damage (63%) from Grass, Steel, and Water types, and 39% from Electric types. Its best moveset is Tackle (Normal) and Thunderbolt (Electric), yielding 5.39 DPS and 37.60 TDO. Partly Cloudy and Rainy weather conditions enhance its damage output. Its Shiny form boasts a black body instead of orange.
