BioWare delivers good and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The game will launch without Denuvo DRM, but PC players will miss out on preloading.
No DRM for Dragon Age: The Veilguard – A Win for Players
PC Preload Unavailable
BioWare's Michael Gamble announced on Twitter (X) that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not utilize Denuvo anti-piracy software on PC. This decision, driven by trust in the player base, is a welcome change for many who often associate DRM with performance issues. The positive response from players is evident, with many expressing their intention to purchase the game at launch.
Gamble also confirmed that the game will not require an always-online connection. However, this DRM-free approach means no PC preload. This is a drawback, especially considering the game's 100GB+ size. Console players, however, will still have access to preloading. Xbox early access players can install now, while PlayStation early access begins October 29th.
Alongside the DRM announcement, BioWare revealed the system requirements. High-end PCs can leverage ray tracing and uncapped frame rates, while minimum specs prioritize accessibility. Consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S) offer fidelity and performance modes (30 and 60 FPS respectively). To fully utilize ray tracing on PC, players need at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT graphics card.
