Mastering Cannon Upgrades in Like a Dragon: Ishin! (Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii)
Upgrading your Goromaru's cannons is crucial for success in Like a Dragon: Ishin!'s naval combat. This guide details how to enhance these powerful weapons, vital for progressing through the game.
Chapter 2 introduces Honolulu and Madlantis, key hubs where ship upgrades and crew recruitment are essential. You'll meet Julie, a mechanic who runs GearWorks, the shop where you upgrade your ship's weaponry. After the initial Goromaru upgrade, return to her shop (and consider recruiting her) to access cannon upgrades. Various materials, obtained by defeating enemies, are needed for each upgrade.
Speak to Julie and select the cannon you wish to upgrade. Once upgraded, equip them via the ship's crew formation menu. Here's a breakdown of the available cannons and their requirements:
Shark Cannon
Offers elemental damage and a faster reload than others, but lower damage overall. Consider this a later acquisition, perhaps prioritizing crew recruitment over immediate cannon power.
Egesta Cannon
Deals damage over time, strategically useful as you don't need identical cannons on both sides of the ship. Its dual-shot compensates for its slower reload.
Laser Cannon
Highly recommended. Save your resources for this devastating weapon. Its high damage output, despite a longer reload, makes it incredibly effective against weaker ships and significantly weakens bosses.
Super Laser Cannon
The ultimate upgrade, requiring rare components. Reserve this upgrade for later in the game, after acquiring the necessary materials. Its superior power and range make it invaluable for challenging battles in the Pirate Coliseum and against Devil Pirates.
