Napoleon Bonaparte, a staple in the *Civilization* series, is set to make a triumphant return in *Civilization 7* (*Civ 7*). However, unlocking this iconic leader requires a few additional steps. Let's dive into how you can get both versions of Napoleon in the game.
How to Get Napoleon, Emperor

Unlocking the Emperor Persona for Napoleon in *Civilization 7* involves creating a 2K Account, which is straightforward. Here’s how you do it:
- Visit portal.2k.com.
- Log in to your existing account or sign up for a new one.
- Link your 2K Account to the platform you’re using by navigating to Connections -> Account Overview.
Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll have access to Napoleon’s Emperor Persona. This version of Napoleon excels in commerce and military prowess, boasting a unique ability named Empereur des Francais. This ability grants a Unique Sanction, the Continental System, which decreases the Trade Route limit of the targeted leader to all other leaders by 1, imposes a massive Relationship penalty, and costs more to reject. Additionally, you’ll gain +8 Gold per Age for every leader you are Unfriendly or Hostile with, and you can reject Endeavors for free.
Napoleon’s Emperor Persona follows an agenda called the Napoleonic Code, which means he has better relations with players who have the smallest standing army and worse relations with those who have the largest standing navy.
How to Get Napoleon, Revolutionary

If the Emperor Persona isn’t your style, you can unlock Napoleon’s Revolutionary Persona. To do this, you need to have played *Civilization 6* previously. Follow these steps:
- Link your 2K Account to your game as described above.
- Ensure you also link *Civ 6* and *Civ 7* to your 2K Account.
- Upon launching *Civ 7*, you’ll find the Revolutionary Napoleon Persona available.
Note that you don’t need to have played *Civ 6* on the same platform as *Civ 7* for this to work.
The Revolutionary Persona of Napoleon focuses on culture and militarism, featuring an ability called La Grande Armee. This ability provides +1 Movement for all Land Units and grants Culture equal to 50% of the defeated enemy unit’s Combat Strength.
This version of Napoleon follows an agenda called Culture from Conquest. He dislikes leaders with numerous alliances but has a relationship bonus with the player who has the highest Culture Per Turn.
And that’s how you can unlock both versions of Napoleon in *Civilization 7*. Whether you choose the Emperor or Revolutionary Persona, you’ll have a powerful leader at your disposal to conquer the world.
