AHOY Comics stunned readers in 2024 by rebooting cult favorite The Toxic Crusader in comic form. Their summer event "Toxic Mess Summer" sees Toxie crossing over with AHOY's entire roster of heroes - including none other than Jesus Christ.
The celebration kicks off in May with The Toxic Avenger Pinup Special, showcasing diverse artistic interpretations of Toxie and company. The main event arrives through Toxie Team-Up - a miniseries pairing our radioactive hero with:
- Project: Cryptid's Jersey Devil
- My Bad's Acid Chimp
- The Wrong Earth's Dragonflyman and Stinger
- Justice Warriors' Swamp Cop and Schitt
- Second Coming's Jesus Christ

For the uninitiated, Second Coming follows Jesus returning to Earth as roommate to superhero Sunstar. The satirical series has courted both praise and controversy since launch - reactions likely to intensify with this divine/mutant crossover.
Toxie Team-Up #1 reunites Second Coming creators Mark Russell (writer) and Richard Pace (artist). Russell explains: "Just as in Second Coming, Christ demonstrates alternatives to violence. Tromaville's bizarre setting actually reflects ancient Rome's bullying culture Christ knew firsthand."
AHOY Editor-in-Chief Tom Peyer notes: "After five films, cartoons, toys, a musical and Marvel comics, Toxic Avenger deserves his own congregation."

The release schedule includes:
- The Toxic Avenger Pinup Special - May 14
- Toxie Team-Up #1 - June 11
- The Toxic Avenger collected trade paperback - April 1 (preorders available on Amazon)
A theatrical return arrives in 2025's Toxic Avenger reboot. IGN's review praised its practical effects and Kevin Bacon/Peter Dinklage performances, though noted it softened Troma's trademark outrageousness.
