Chrono Trigger-Inspired RPG "Threads of Time" Coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC
Riyo Games' upcoming 2.5D RPG, Threads of Time, a nostalgic homage to classic turn-based JRPGs like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy, is slated for release on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. The announcement, made during the Xbox showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2024, generated considerable excitement. While a release date remains unconfirmed, PS5 and Nintendo Switch releases are also currently unannounced.
Already generating buzz as a potential rival to Sea of Stars, Threads of Time marks Riyo Games' debut. The studio's press release highlights their commitment to creating retro-inspired RPGs that evoke cherished childhood memories, born from a childhood promise to create fantastical adventures.
The game boasts vibrant 2.5D pixel art and a diverse cast of characters journeying through various eras, from prehistoric times to a futuristic robot age. A compelling narrative unfolds across centuries, culminating in a discovery of a sinister plot threatening the very fabric of time. Stunning anime cutscenes enhance the intricate storyline.
