TMNT: The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #5, written by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with art by Ben Bishop, Isaac Escorza, and Esau Escorza, promises a climactic showdown. IDW's official description teases:
The second installment in the legendary Last Ronin saga reaches its fiery conclusion! New York City is engulfed in all-out war, leaving no one safe. Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno are all caught in the crossfire. Will they survive? Their fate rests in the hands of legendary writers Kevin Eastman & Tom Waltz as this chapter of The Last Ronin concludes!
Reflecting on the series in a 2024 interview with IGN, Eastman shared insights into updating the characters: "We wanted to update the characters. There are two male and two female Turtle characters, and Tom and I tried to write what teenagers might think, say, and do. There's a nice mix of personalities, much like the original Turtles. You want them to love their family, but not always like them. So they argue, disagree, but when they need to work together, the heart of their family keeps them united. That's the foundation of anything we do with the Turtles."
