Nintendo Switch 2: Unveiled!
Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: April 2nd, 2025
Following months of speculation, Nintendo has officially announced the Nintendo Switch 2. A brief teaser trailer showcased a refined design while maintaining the hybrid functionality of its predecessor.
The teaser highlighted a larger screen, a more robust kickstand, and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons – a significant change from the original Switch's rail system. An additional USB-C port was also confirmed.
Backward compatibility is a key feature. Nintendo confirmed that both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games will be playable, although some titles may have limited or no support. Specific titles will be detailed later on the Nintendo website. Nintendo Switch Online functionality will also continue on the Switch 2.
While no exclusive titles have been officially announced, the teaser hinted at a new Mario Kart installment, possibly Mario Kart 9.
