Speculation that Starfield will soon be confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, and although the Creation was subsequently removed, it has fueled speculation that Bethesda's sci-fi game, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox until now, may soon be available on PS5.
They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has led to speculation about whether Bethesda plans a significant content update, or perhaps even a new expansion, to coincide with Starfield's potential release on PS5. The game has seen little excitement in recent months, particularly following the poorly received Shattered Space expansion. Bethesda's parent company, Microsoft, is expected to hold a summer showcase this year, which could be the perfect opportunity to unveil more details about Starfield.
Bethesda has promised "exciting things" for Starfield this year, amid growing discontent from players over a lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield, confirming at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios' Todd Howard mentioned that the developer aims to release an annual story expansion for "hopefully a very long time."

Starfield was launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN's review of Starfield awarded it a 7/10, stating: "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."
In January, Microsoft's gaming boss Phil Spencer hinted that Starfield might come to PS5, following reports from March 2024 that both Starfield and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for the platform. While Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, Starfield has yet to be officially announced for PS5, though Spencer's comments suggest it's a possibility.
Several Xbox games are already available on PS5, including Rare’s Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian’s Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles, among other platforms, and is set to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 from Playground Games is also confirmed to be coming to PS5 soon. There are even reports that Microsoft is considering releasing Halo on PlayStation after decades of exclusivity to Xbox.

Spencer has explained that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly aimed at increasing revenue for Microsoft's gaming business, especially following its massive $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the company behind Call of Duty. In an interview from last August, Spencer stated, "We run a business. It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do. So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us."
Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450-person team, is currently managing five projects: Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile gaming, and external development partnerships.
