The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already an outstanding headphone, but the XM5 introduces key improvements in noise cancellation and comfort. The XM5 is equipped with a second processor and double the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The redesigned earcups fit more snugly, creating a better seal and enhancing passive noise isolation. The noise cancellation performance is significantly better than the XM4 and rivals any other noise-canceling headset in its price range.
The Sony WH-1000XM5 also features a sleeker redesign with a different headband adjustment style.
