Sega took to Twitter (X) on April 9 to share that *Sonic Rumble* will be available worldwide on May 8, 2025. Accompanying this announcement was a fresh trailer that offered a glimpse into the game's dynamic gameplay.

*Sonic Rumble* marks the first multiplayer party game in the Sonic universe, where up to 32 players can battle it out in various levels and gameplay modes. Sega describes the game as, "Players control a character from the Sonic series as they navigate a toy world crafted by the notorious Dr. Eggman, tackling challenging obstacle courses and perilous arenas!"

Given that *Sonic Rumble* is free-to-play, there have been concerns about potential pay-to-win elements. However, in an interview with Automaton during the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Sonic Rumble Director Makoto Tase addressed these concerns. He stated, "We’re aiming for a casual system that allows you to purchase exactly what you want for a small, fixed amount, rather than a gacha system that relies on chance for item acquisition."
