Latest Updates on Hollow Knight: Silksong
Minor Steam Metadata Update for Silksong

A minor update to Hollow Knight: Silksong's Steam metadata has once again given the fanbase fresh reason to be optimistic. According to SteamDB, on March 24, Silksong’s store page was adjusted, enrolling the game in NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW program to ensure compatibility with the cloud gaming service upon release.
Additional changes include updates to hidden game assets and copyright details—most notably, the copyright year was revised from 2019 to 2025. While these adjustments don’t confirm anything, they may signal that something related to Silksong is on the way. Fans have repeatedly voiced their desire for news in the comments of major events like PlayStation’s State of Play and Xbox Developer Direct.
Considering this metadata tweak and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, expectations are once again rising for a Silksong announcement.
Silksong Included in Xbox Indies Post About Future Releases

Another reason for optimism came when Silksong was mentioned in a recent ID@Xbox article. In a March 18 post on Xbox Wire, ID@Xbox director Guy Richards highlighted the program's growth, noting that indie developers in the initiative have earned over $5 billion.
Richards spotlighted successful ID@Xbox launches such as Balatro, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Phasmophobia. He also previewed upcoming titles, including Hollow Knight: Silksong, stating, "Looking ahead, our lineup is incredible with upcoming games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, and FBC: Firebreak… and, of course, Hollow Knight: Silksong too!"
Notably, the other games he listed are scheduled to launch this year—Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 arrives on April 24, Descenders Next on April 9, and FBC: Firebreak is set for 2025. While this could hint at Silksong following a similar timeline, nothing is officially confirmed at this time.
First Announced Back in February 2019

Team Cherry first unveiled Hollow Knight: Silksong in February 2019 as a full-fledged sequel to the original game. Originally conceived as a DLC expansion, the project grew in scope and ambition, ultimately becoming a standalone release.
The game re-emerged in a 2022 Xbox-Bethesda showcase, with Microsoft confirming that everything shown would be available within the following 12 months. However, in 2023, Team Cherry announced that Silksong would not meet its initial release window of the first half of the year, though development would continue with updates to follow closer to launch.
Earlier this year, Team Cherry reaffirmed that the game is real and still in development. On January 18, Matthew Griffin, the studio's Marketing and PR representative, responded to a social media inquiry by saying, "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." Though brief, this statement gave fans at least a small dose of reassurance.
Given these recent events, many in the community believe an official Silksong announcement could be coming soon. The game is planned for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, though Team Cherry has yet to announce a specific launch date.
