The highly anticipated Season 2 of HBO's *The Last of Us* is set to include content that was originally cut from the video game *The Last of Us Part 2*. According to showrunner and Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann, the series will bring back some "pretty brutal" scenes that were previously omitted. These scenes, known as the Lost Levels, were partially restored in the PlayStation 5 remaster of the game. The levels in question include Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers. While the first two levels feature more serene settings with Ellie attending a party and tracking a bleeding boar, respectively, the Seattle Sewers level ramps up the tension as Ellie is stalked by monsters in the dark tunnels beneath the city.

Druckmann has expressed excitement about the inclusion of this intense content, stating, "It's pretty brutal, but I'm very excited for people to see it." He also hinted at the introduction of a "pretty prominent" character who was only mentioned in the game, drawing parallels to the approach taken with Frank in Season 1.
Season 2 will introduce several new characters to the series, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel, among others. Additionally, Catherine O'Hara has joined the cast in a yet-to-be-revealed role, adding an element of mystery to the upcoming season.
Fans won't have to wait long to see these new developments unfold, as the premiere of Season 2 is scheduled for April. However, some mysteries may persist longer due to HBO's plan to extend the coverage of *The Last of Us Part 2* beyond a single season. Unlike Season 1, which adapted the entire first game, Season 2 will only cover part of the second game's story. Showrunner Craig Mazin has noted that *The Last of Us Part 2* contains a much larger narrative, and while Season 3 has not been officially confirmed, Season 2 has been structured with a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes.
