Riot Games made a notable appearance at this year's DICE Summit, where co-founder Marc Merrill shared exciting insights in a post-event discussion with Stephen Totilo. One of Merrill's most ambitious goals is to launch a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game set within the expansive universe of League of Legends and its animated series, Arcane. This project has captured much of Merrill's attention, fueled by his passion for the MMO genre and a deep commitment to bringing the beloved world of League of Legends to life in a new, immersive way.
While Merrill is optimistic about the MMO's potential success, largely due to the enthusiasm of League of Legends fans eager to dive deeper into their favorite universe, he remained tight-lipped about specifics such as a release date. In a light-hearted moment, he quipped that he hopes the game will be ready before humans set foot on Mars—a humorous yet uncertain timeline.
In addition to the MMO, Riot Games is also developing another title set in the League of Legends universe: 2XKO, a highly anticipated fighting game. Unlike the MMO, 2XKO has already released trailers and is slated for a release before the year's end, much to the excitement of fans who have been eagerly awaiting its arrival.
