This 2,315-piece set is the most detailed R2-D2 model LEGO has ever released. When it first launched, IGN had the opportunity to assemble this set and found the building experience incredibly rewarding. Standing over a foot tall, you can pose R2-D2 in numerous ways, and every iconic feature from the films is meticulously included. The third leg is retractable, the front hatches open and close, and the periscope extends from R2's head. LEGO's attention to detail ensures that every color, wire, tube, or light on R2's body is as screen-accurate as possible. If you manage to secure this set before it's gone, it will complement some of the best LEGO Star Wars sets to build in 2025 beautifully.
R2-D2's most recent on-screen appearance was in 2021's "The Book of Boba Fett," specifically in episode 6 titled "From the Desert Comes a Stranger." This episode is particularly noteworthy as it features the return of a CGI de-aged Luke Skywalker, the first (and last) live-action appearance of bounty hunter Cad Bane, and, of course, our beloved blue and white astromech droid. IGN rated this episode a seven, noting that it focused more on The Mandalorian and nostalgic Star Wars elements than on its protagonist.
