YouTube Star Corey Pritchett Faces Kidnapping Charges, Flees to the Middle East
Popular YouTube content creator Corey Pritchett is facing two counts of aggravated kidnapping and has reportedly fled the United States. The allegations, which have shocked his substantial online following, involve an incident on November 24, 2024, in southwest Houston.
Pritchett, known for his vlogs, challenges, and pranks on his channels "CoreySSG" (4 million subscribers) and "CoreySSG Live" (over 1 million subscribers), allegedly kidnapped two women, aged 19 and 20, after a day of activities. According to reports from ABC13, the women were allegedly threatened at gunpoint, driven at high speeds on I-10, and had their phones confiscated. Pritchett reportedly expressed paranoia about being pursued and mentioned accusations of arson. The women eventually escaped and contacted authorities.
Following the incident, Pritchett was charged on December 26, 2024. However, he had already left the country on December 9th, flying to Doha, Qatar, on a one-way ticket. He is now believed to be in Dubai, where he posted a video seemingly mocking the charges and his current situation, claiming to be "on the run."
The situation highlights a concerning trend of legal issues facing online personalities. While unrelated, former YouTube streamer Johnny Somali also faces potential jail time in South Korea. The case against Pritchett remains unresolved, leaving his future and potential return to the US uncertain. This incident draws parallels to the 2023 kidnapping of YouTuber YourFellowArab in Haiti, who was later released after a harrowing ordeal. The outcome of Pritchett's case, and whether he will return to face the charges, remains to be seen.
