This exciting announcement was made on IO Interactive’s website, which also revealed that the game will introduce an entirely fresh narrative within the Bond universe.
In Project 007, players will have the unique opportunity to step into the role of the world's most renowned Secret Agent and embark on a journey to earn their 00 status. This marks the debut of the very first James Bond origin story, a groundbreaking move for the franchise.
Back in October, Hakan Abrak, the head of IO Interactive, shared his enthusiasm with IGN about crafting this new origin story for the beloved spy. "What's exciting about that project is that we actually got to do an original story. So it's not a gamification of a movie," he explained. Abrak emphasized the game's originality, stating, "It's completely beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future. And equally important and exciting, it's a new Bond. It's a Bond we built from the ground up for gamers.
