A Record-Breaking Unboxing Livestream
On November 26th, 2024, The Pokémon Company shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream, celebrating the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
The event, streamed live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured well-known internet personalities including Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. Over 24 hours, they opened 1,500 booster packs and various other Pokémon products, resulting in over 20,000 cards, as reported by the official Pokémon press release.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in the accomplishment, stating, "It's been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved this ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title with such a fantastic team."
The celebration doesn't end there! The official press release promises further giveaways on the creators' channels in the coming weeks. The cards themselves will be donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holidays.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Expansion
Released November 8th, 2024, the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion transports players to the Terarium, the key location in Pokémon SV's Indigo Disk DLC Part 2. Highlights include Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as the defensively powerful Archaludon ex.
This expansion also features iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. Tropical vibes are captured in the illustration rare and special illustration rare cards, showcasing Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas amidst calming ocean waves. New Tera Pokémon ex, including Pallossand ex and Flygon ex, add exciting options for TCG players.
The expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
