The launch of Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading feature, despite being highly anticipated, has fallen short of player expectations. This has led the developers to consider reworking the trading system. As a gesture of goodwill and to keep the community engaged, they are distributing 1000 Trade Tokens to all players through the in-game Gifts menu. These tokens are essential for card trading within the game.
Previously, the developers had announced plans to adjust the trading mechanics and make it easier to obtain the necessary trading currency. Players have expressed frustration with the current restrictions, such as limitations on trading cards based on rarity and the requirement to use a specific currency for trades.

In my view, the developers had two clear paths to avoid these issues: either implement an open trading system or eliminate trading altogether. While concerns about bots and exploitations are valid, those determined to bypass restrictions would likely find the current limitations on cards and the need for trading currency only a minor hurdle.
It is hoped that the upcoming rework of the trading system will address these concerns effectively. A well-executed trading feature in a digital TCG could significantly enhance its appeal and position it as a strong alternative to the physical version of the game.
