As 2024 draws to a close, Pokémon Go is set to celebrate the New Year with its annual festive event, starting December 30th and continuing through to January 1st, 2025. This event promises an array of themed bonuses, unique Pokémon encounters, and exciting ways to start 2025 with a bang.
The festive spirit is already in the air with the special Community Day event, where all previous Community Day Pokémon make a comeback. This event runs from December 21st to 22nd, and just a week later, you can dive into the New Year’s festivities.
A standout feature of the New Year’s event is the opportunity to earn 2,025 XP for every Pokémon caught with an Excellent Throw. As you wander around, don't miss the chance to enjoy the celebratory fireworks that will light up the skies. The environment will be adorned with New Year decorations, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The event also increases the chances of encountering themed Pokémon. Look out for Jigglypuff adorned with a ribbon, Hoothoot in a New Year’s outfit, and Wurmple sporting a party hat, all appearing more frequently in the wild. You might even spot their Shiny variants if luck is on your side.
Raids are getting a festive makeover too. One-star raids will feature Pikachu wearing a snowflake beanie, while three-star raids will challenge you with Raticate and Wobbuffet, both decked out in party hats. The event boosts the Shiny rates for all three, making it a perfect time to hunt for these rare versions.
For those who love quests, the Field Research and Timed Research tasks offer additional encounters and rewards. There’s also a Paid Timed Research option for $2, which includes exclusive rewards such as three Premium Battle Passes, three Lucky Eggs, 2,025 Stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.
The Ultra Holiday Box is still available in the Pokémon GO Web Store for $4.99, offering a Pokémon Storage upgrade, an Item Bag upgrade, and 17 Rare Candies. And don’t forget to grab some freebies by redeeming the latest Pokémon Go codes!
