Pikmin Bloom is set to celebrate its 3.5th anniversary next month, and Niantic is pulling out all the stops to make it memorable. As part of the festivities, a brand-new event kicks off on May 1st, 2025, bringing back some nostalgic in-game items that will surely spark memories for longtime Nintendo fans.
The Update Is a Cool Throwback to the Good Old Nintendo Days!
Since its launch, Pikmin Bloom has delighted players with creative decor themes—from Mahjong Tile Pikmin to Playing Card-inspired designs. This time around, the game dives deep into Nintendo’s past by introducing classic gaming consoles from the 80s and 90s as decorative elements for your Pikmin. It's more than just a visual treat—it's a tribute to Nintendo’s evolution over the decades.
A special highlight of this update is the introduction of the Playing Card (Clubs Suit) Decor Pikmin. This design pays homage to Nintendo’s early days when the company was best known for producing playing cards rather than iconic video games. The art style of these cards mirrors Nintendo’s vintage card decks, offering a unique blend of retro charm and modern gameplay.
The celebration runs from May 1st through May 31st, 2025, giving players an entire month to enjoy exclusive missions and collect new Pikmin varieties. Each time you complete an Event Challenge mission, you’ll earn random rewards such as Game Button Cells, seedlings that grow into Nintendo Consoles ‘80-‘95 Decor Pikmin, and colorful flower petals.
During the event, Brilliant Mushrooms will appear more frequently. Defeating them drops Mystery Boxes containing valuable items like Game Button Cells and flower petals. Certain Decor Pikmin—especially the Nintendo Consoles ‘80-‘95 and Playing Card variants—are particularly effective against these mushrooms, making them essential allies during the celebration.
Pikmin Bloom 3.5th Anniversary Also Brings Big Flowers in May
This year’s floral update brings even more excitement to the game. In May, planted flowers have the potential to bloom into carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, or commemorative anniversary roses—but only if you surround them with red, yellow, white, or blue petals.
Additionally, a nectar enhancement is introduced this month. Fruits obtained from mushrooms will now yield nectar usable on both regular and special flowers—including the newly featured carnations, sweet peas, lilies of the valley, freesias, canola flowers, and anniversary roses. This makes it easier than ever to grow and customize your garden.
There’s also more to look forward to beyond the core update, including Community Day events and other surprises. If you haven’t already, download [ttpp] today and prepare for one of the most nostalgic celebrations in the game’s history.
