Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters throughout the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, additional passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide explains how to locate and activate this beneficial encounter.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance. Its understated icon on the world map makes it easily overlooked.
Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the Sisters' precise location within the Spires of Deshar varies. However, its presence on this map is guaranteed. Thoroughly explore the map until you discover a shrine resembling the image above. Activating the shrine triggers a combat encounter with metallic automatons. The shrine activation simultaneously animates all automatons on the map.
A checkpoint near the map exit allows for fast travel back to the shrine, avoiding unnecessary combat if you reach it before interacting with the Sisters.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is applied instantly upon interaction with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate.
Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan appear in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both locations grants a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Isn't Showing
Many players find it confusing that their resistance values remain negative even after activating the buff. This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act completion (Chaos Resistance is unaffected).
Therefore, completing the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the net Lightning Resistance will be -30% after activating the shrine (offsetting the -40% debuff from completing Act 2).
To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you've successfully completed both encounters.
