Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, continues to captivate players since its January 2024 launch. The Feybreak DLC significantly enhanced the gameplay by introducing numerous crafting materials, including the valuable Dark Fragments. These are crucial for crafting high-tier accessories, making their acquisition a priority for any Feybreak explorer.
How to Obtain Dark Fragments in Palworld
To acquire Dark Fragments, hunt Dark-elemental Pals exclusively found on Feybreak Island. This material is unique to Feybreak; Pals from other regions won't yield Dark Fragments. Coastal areas often feature ground and water-type Pals, so venture inland to locate Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some, like Starryon, are primarily nocturnal unless encountered as boss variants.
Defeating or capturing these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. The drop isn't guaranteed, but diligent hunting should provide a sufficient supply.
The following Dark-elemental Pals drop Dark Fragments. Note that boss and predator variants exist in various Feybreak locations:
While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on the ground. Thorough exploration is key, though remember that frequent combat depletes ammo, which might be better conserved for challenges like Bjorn, the island's formidable Tower Boss.
Utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld
Dark Fragments, while valuable, aren't used in a vast array of recipes. They are primarily components for specialized saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots (dash and jump) for your character.
The following items require Dark Fragments. Unlocking schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points (or Ancient Technology Points) is necessary, along with the appropriate crafting machines and materials.
