Star Wars Celebration 2025 is set to excite fans with an official appearance from Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac, fueling speculation about Poe Dameron's potential return to the beloved franchise. The event, scheduled for April 18 to 20 in Tokyo, was announced via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram account.
Isaac's presence at the event has sparked rumors, especially considering Daisy Ridley's announcement at Star Wars Celebration 2023 about her return in a new film. The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with "Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker," and since then, Isaac has had mixed feelings about returning. Initially, he humorously suggested in 2020 that he would only come back if he needed "another house or something." However, by 2022, his stance had softened, telling Variety he was "open to anything."
Isaac has also publicly criticized Disney for rejecting his proposal for a romantic subplot between Poe and Finn, played by John Boyega, stating that the "overlords were not ready for that." Boyega, too, has expressed dissatisfaction with Disney and the franchise, though he has since indicated openness to future roles.
The anticipation surrounding the Rey film, set 15 years after "The Rise of Skywalker," has fans wondering if all three main characters might return as Rey seeks to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has voiced her wish for Boyega to join her, and with Poe completing the trilogy's main trio, his return seems plausible.

While definitive news may emerge at Star Wars Celebration 2025, fans might need to wait longer for clarity on the franchise's future. Disney has repeatedly delayed upcoming Star Wars films despite announcing over a dozen projects. The Rey film, under the direction of Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, currently has a tentative release date of December 17, 2027.
