The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered PC players encountered issues following an unexpected update released today, but Bethesda has assured fans that a solution is forthcoming.
Players were surprised to find that Virtuos' comprehensive re-release of the game had been updated without prior notice or patch notes. While some continued playing without issues, others soon discovered that the update created more problems than it solved.
Yoooo why would @virtuosgames push an update to Oblivion Remastered that removes all upscaling right before the games first weekend?!!?

A Reddit user noted, "Can't change the upscaling methods anymore. It's set to 'off' and while the arrows are clickable nothing happens. So I closed the game, disabled fluid motion in the NVidia app (was testing something before the patch came) and started the game again. Loading times for my save are long again and still can't change upscaling settings lol. Now I am stuck with 40-60 fps in high settings with a 5800X3D and a 5080. Nice patch :D"
While some players have not experienced significant performance changes, others are facing new issues, particularly related to low framerates. Many have also reported that upscaling settings are now inaccessible, causing visual problems just before Oblivion Remastered's first weekend.

Bethesda has responded to the concerns via an official support page post. The update was intended to include "a few backend tweaks and nothing directly impacting game play." However, it appears that players who purchased Oblivion Remastered through the Microsoft Store are primarily affected, facing issues with their upscaling and anti-aliasing options.
Bethesda clarified, "Any graphic settings adjusted prior to the Microsoft Store hotfix are still enabled and function normally. However, you will temporarily be unable to adjust those settings due to the issue with the settings UI. The team is taking a look and working out a resolution, we will share more info as soon as we can."
Currently, there is no definite timeline for when a fix for this unintended issue will be available. Meanwhile, players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S can continue to enjoy the game without any reported problems.
