Nintendo has exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the Switch 2: you'll be able to use the innovative Joy-Con mouse controls on the Home screen. Since the Nintendo Switch 2's reveal, enthusiasts have been buzzing about the potential uses of the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Just last month, we finally received official confirmation that the Joy-Con can operate in "mouse mode," enabling players to slide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to simulate left-clicks and right-clicks, much like a traditional mouse. What's more, you can even use two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode—one in each hand—or pair one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode for versatile control options.
And now, we have even more details. As demonstrated on the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2.

"If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen," Nintendo explained. "To display the cursor, simply set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown.
"While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," Nintendo added, "[and] use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To switch back to using the thumbstick, just move the Joy-Con 2 into a horizontal position again.
While we don't yet know the full extent of game compatibility, Nintendo has showcased the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to make its debut on June 5. Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 began on April 24, maintaining a price of $449.99, and they sold out remarkably fast. For more information, check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
