Speculation about the specs of Nintendo's much-anticipated Nintendo Switch upgrade has finally come to an end, and the results are more impressive than many expected. The newly unveiled Nintendo Switch 2 supports up to 120fps and can reach 4K resolution when docked, marking a significant leap forward in performance.
During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo showcased numerous features of the new system. The Nintendo Switch 2 boasts a larger 7.9-inch built-in screen compared to its predecessor, maintaining the same thickness of 13.9mm but doubling the pixel count. In handheld mode, it supports a 1080p screen at up to 120fps, utilizing an LCD screen with HDR capabilities. When docked, the system can support up to 4K resolution with HDR as well.The Joy-Con 2 controllers have been upgraded with magnetic connections and a release button on the back for easy detachment. The SL and SR buttons on the sides are larger, enhancing gameplay in horizontal mode, and the left and right sticks are also bigger. Additionally, the segment officially revealed the introduction of mouse control support within the Joy-Con controllers.
The handheld version of the Nintendo Switch 2 features a built-in microphone with noise-canceling technology and supports 3D audio for compatible games. It also includes a larger, more robust stand that can be adjusted to various heights. A top USB port allows for external camera connectivity or charging the system in tabletop mode.
Finally, the Nintendo Switch 2 comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage, providing ample space for games and applications.
