Nintendo has officially announced the upgrade pricing for two additional titles transitioning from the original Switch to the upcoming Switch 2: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. The cost may come as a surprise to many, as these upgrades are significantly more expensive than previous ones.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom offered upgrade packs at $9.99 each, providing enhanced visuals, improved performance, and additional features like achievements and integration with the Nintendo Switch Online app's "Zelda Notes" service. However, players who already own the original versions of Kirby and Super Mario Party Jamboree will need to pay much more to access the full Switch 2 enhancements.
The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land includes new story content in the form of the Star-Crossed World expansion. Meanwhile, the Switch 2 version of Super Mario Party Jamboree introduces Jamboree TV, a suite of features that leverages the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the separately sold USB-C camera. These editions also offer visual improvements such as up to 1440p resolution in TV mode, better frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online functionality.
While U.S. pricing details are not yet confirmed—possibly due to ongoing uncertainties related to potential tariffs—the UK eShop lists the upgrade pack for Kirby and the Forgotten Land at £16.99 / €19.99, nearly double the price of the Zelda upgrades. The same price point applies to the Super Mario Party Jamboree upgrade, suggesting a likely U.S. price of $19.99 per game.
This higher cost could be linked to the overall price of the full Switch 2 Edition bundles. Both Kirby and the Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV retail at $79.99 each, compared to their original Switch versions, which are priced at $59.99. This marks a notable $20 difference per title.
Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Titles – U.S. Pricing (Full Versions)
- Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World: $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: $69.99
- Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV: $79.99
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: $79.99
It’s worth noting that the upgrade packs for both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no extra cost to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers. Unfortunately, this benefit does not currently extend to those looking to upgrade Kirby and the Forgotten Land or Super Mario Party Jamboree.
Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 launched earlier today, April 24, at a fixed price of $449.99.
