Team Ninja's long-awaited Ninja Gaiden sequel is finally happening, thanks to a collaborative effort between Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, and PlatinumGames. Producer Fumihiko Yasuda revealed that the studio struggled to solidify a concept for years before discussions with Koei Tecmo president Hisashi Koinuma and PlatinumGames head Atsushi Inaba, ultimately leading to involvement from Xbox's Phil Spencer. Spencer's suggestion for a three-way partnership propelled the project forward, confirming talks dating back to 2017.
PlatinumGames' expertise in fast-paced action titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata proved the perfect complement to Team Ninja's vision. The surprise announcement last week included not only Ninja Gaiden 4, but also a simultaneous re-release of an enhanced Ninja Gaiden 2 Black for Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Early footage showcases Ryu Hayabusa at the helm of this action-slasher, introducing innovative mechanics absent from previous installments. The trailer highlights new traversal options, such as swift movement via wires and rails.
While DOOM: The Dark Ages dominated the Developer_Direct, the reveal of Ninja Gaiden 4 generated significant excitement. The game is slated for a Fall 2025 release.
