Team Ninja has rolled out a significant update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, elevating the game to version 1.0.7.0. This patch introduces eagerly awaited features like New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and more, fulfilling promises made to fans back in January. The update is now accessible across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.
New Game Plus allows players to embark on a fresh journey at any difficulty level they've previously conquered, carrying over their arsenal of weapons and Ninpo, albeit reverted to Level 1. However, players cannot directly access a higher difficulty using this mode. Another user-friendly enhancement is the option to conceal the projectile weapon on the player's back, found under "Game Settings" in the Options menu.
On the gameplay balance front, Team Ninja has tweaked enemy Hit Points in Chapters 8 and 11, reducing them to make encounters more manageable. Conversely, the number of enemies has been increased in Chapters 13 and 14, intensifying the challenge. Additionally, some of Ayane's attacks now deliver more damage, adding depth to combat strategies.
The patch also addresses several technical issues, including control problems at high frame rates or under heavy computing loads, controller vibration inconsistencies, out-of-bounds glitches, progression-blocking bugs in certain chapters, and game crashes during extended play sessions. A comprehensive list of patch notes is provided below.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black made a surprising debut during the January Xbox Developer Direct, offering a refreshed take on the iconic action game, powered by Unreal Engine 5. This engine upgrade not only enhances the visual fidelity but also introduces new playable characters and improves battle support features. In IGN's 8/10 review of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, the game was praised as a stunning improvement over its Sigma 2 counterpart, despite some adjustments to enemy numbers and health, maintaining its status as an exceptional action title.
